James E. Blazer

Jim Blazer, co-founder and a principal of the Wealth Planning Group came into the financial services profession by way of a very unique path. He spent many years as a session and touring keyboardist. A partial list of the entertainers he has performed and/or recorded with include Clarence Clemons, Chuck Berry, Flo & Eddie, Peter Noone, Gordon Waller, Ben E King, Mitch Ryder, Russ Ballard, John “Bowser” Bowman, Chris Montez, Craig Taubman and most notably, the Spencer Davis Group, a relationship that continues today.

Jim’s success in (and fascination with) math, coupled with the birth of his now-teenage daughter, brought him to Financial Planning through his pursuit and interest in investing. A lifelong investor, he found that the field was intimidating to a wide range of people, not the least of which has been entertainment professionals. This led to the establishment of a significant portion of the Wealth Planning Group’s current practice built around serving the complex needs of creative and successful entrepreneurs. Being a creative person and managing the wealth of a creative person are very different pursuits and Jim has found a way to bridge the gap. He has been certified as a CFP since 2005.

Jim, a 20 year resident of Santa Clarita, is active in many business organizations in the community and has served for 6 years on the Board of Directors of the Santa Clarita Symphony. His hobbies include golf, wine, attending his daughter Annie’s club volleyball tournaments, and, of course, all things music.

A journey of a thousand miles does indeed begin with the first step.
